Is LEGOLAND Discovery Centre in Birmingham worth the money?
The LEGOLAND® Discovery Centre is a super fun attraction with great events happening throughout the year, but a visit to the attraction does come at a price. Recently, ticket prices have increased to £25 per person during weekends and school holidays, which is a little steep in my opinion, especially considering it's a 2-3 hour experience rather than a full-day outing.
For those keen on maximising their visit, taking advantage of the multi-attraction ticket offers, seeking out special offers or online discounts from third parties can make it better value for money (see the Top Tips section for more details). The annual pass is also great at just £45 per person for a whole year's worth of visits! Click here for more information about the Awesome Adventurer Annual Pass.
Top Tips for Visiting
Shop around for the best deal: If you're looking to visit once, you can take advantage of the multi-attraction tickets on the attraction website, where you can visit different Merlin attractions in a package deal, shop around with third parties like Love to Visit where you can currently get a 20% discount on the entry cost, see here for more information. If you're looking for a whole year's worth of fun, an Awesome Adventurer Annual Pass is the best option at just £45 per person, which is great considering one-day admission is £25 per person.
Book the earliest time slot: If you're visiting during the weekend or school holidays, book the first slot of the day (9.30am), which is the quietest. The first half an hour to an hour is pretty quiet, so you can make sure your children get to do their favourite activities before the centre starts to fill up. It does get busy really quickly with families rushing to occupy tables and seats. Many families do end up standing around and watching their children play.
Take your own snacks: Like most attractions, I'd recommend taking your own snacks with bottled drinks priced at £2.50, crisps at £1.50, and coffee at £4.95 in the Coffee Shop.
Use hand sanitiser: Make sure to use the hand sanitiser gel stations that are dotted around. Throughout the day, we saw the cleaners sweep up the LEGO bricks that were on the floor and then put them back in the boxes for reuse, and with lots of people using the bricks on a daily basis, it's very hard to keep them all clean.
