October is the perfect time to participate in spooky events. There are lots of Halloween-themed days out and activities across the Midlands from scare mazes and torchlight evenings to family-friendly spooktaculars, immersive trails, and specific events for kids. Whether you’re looking for a family outing or want something a little scarier, there’s something for everyone this hair-raising Halloween.

So let's dive in on the best Halloween Events in the Midlands in 2023.

Best Halloween Events in the Midlands in 2023
1. Black Country Living Museum Halloween Nights
Get ready for a spooktacular night at the Black Country Living Museum! At the museum's Halloween Nights after-dark event, you can enjoy plenty of treats as you trick or treats around the historic houses and shops, encounter creepy crawlies, and see chilling characters and street performances. You can hear spooky stories from the past as you're guided around the dark tunnels of the underground mine.
Why not dress up in your best Halloween costume for their costume competition and parade? There are prizes for the best-dressed visitors (adults included)!
It's also a great time to check out the museum's brand new 1940s-60s high street.
When? Saturday 28th October 2023 - Tuesday 31st October 2023 from 6.30pm.

2. Scarefest at Alton Towers Resort
Alton Towers' award-winning Scarefest returns for 2023! Open until 9pm each day, you can face the theme park's hair-raising rides and attractions in darkness. Imagine riding Wicker Man and The Smiler in the dark! In addition to taking on the rides, prepare to be scared in the scare attractions and come face to face with the horrifying creatures that beckon within.
Throughout Scarefest season there will be plenty of activities for selected ages to take part in, making sure no one is left in the dark during this spooky event. For family-friendly frights, join the five super-freaky Halloween characters in their multi-coloured playground.
When? 7th, 8th & 13th - 31st October 2023.
Where? Farley Lane, Alton, Stoke-on-Trent ST10 4DB.
How much? Scarefest day passes are £39pp (under 3s go free). Scarefest usually sells out really quickly so make sure to book tickets at your earliest convenience if you'd like to visit.
3. Drayton Manor Resort

4. West Midland Safari Park Spooky Spectacular
In October, West Midland Safari Park will be adorned with Halloween decorations and hundreds of pumpkins in an impressive Pumpkin Patch. The safari park will also be introducing a new character, Mitzy Monster, who will be hosting a brand-new 20-minute silly science show (Showing during half term 28th Oct – 5th November only)!
The excitable pumpkin-scarecrow character, Patch, will be back this year for meet and greets. He loves playing tricks on people! Mitzy and Patch will be joined by their creators – the silly scientists, who will also be entertaining guests. Spooky explorers will need to help locate the missing potion ingredients in the free Spooky Trail, to win a delicious treat!
On the 28th and 29th of October, West Midland Safari Park will be open until 8pm, so you can enjoy a spooky evening of rides and dinosaurs in the dark!

West Midland Safari Park Moonlight Tickets
On the 28th and 29th of October, WMSP will be offering Moonlight Tickets for those who want to arrive from 3pm, to enjoy the indoor walk-through animal exhibits, Land of the Living Dinosaurs, Ice Age and Theme Park rides! Moonlight tickets do not include entry to the Safari Drive-through. Moonlight tickets, including ride wristbands, are £22 per person.
West Midland Safari Park: The Monster Ball Halloween Party (Over 18s Only)
West Midland Safari Park is hosting a special event, The Monster Ball Halloween Party, for over 18s. The party sounds like wickedly good fun with live entertainment “Sideshow of Screams”, hauntingly good tunes, and a prize for best dressed!
When? Saturday 28th October 2023, 7:30pm-midnight.
Where? Spring Grove, Bewdley, Worcestershire, DY12 1LF.
How much? Standard Ticket £15pp. Group Ticket – £12.00 pp (Groups of 10+).
5. The Haunted Castle at Warwick Castle
Halloween is such a special time of the year, and when it comes to getting into the spooky spirit of things, there is no better place to explore than Warwick Castle! The Haunted Castle offers a family-friendly fright night filled with plenty of fun and spooky entertainment, from mysterious mazes, to a spooky trail, eerie entertainment, wicked witches' den, spooky scare schools, and lots of haunting Halloween fun.
If you want something even spookier though, why not try the Castle After Dark experience? Those brave enough can prepare for an evening of spooky shenanigans, from frightful entertainment from the thrilling performers to the three scare attractions. Why not follow the footsteps of ghosts in the castle and its grounds?

6. Halloween Farm
Set in over 300 acres of stunning Leicestershire countryside, Halloween Farm 2023 promises an unforgettable Halloween offering. This includes Pumpkin Land, Trick or Treat Street, The Jungle inflatables, Halloween Fun Fair, Children's Activity Area, Pumpkin Express, The Spooky Cinema, The Twisted Circus, and new for 2023, The Lost World, where you can step into the enchanting realm of lost dinosaurs and unicorns.
When? Starting 30th September 2023 and running until 5th November 2023.
Where? Cattows Farm, Swepstone Road, Heather, Coalville LE67 2RF.
How much? Entry starts from £3 per person (Children 12 months and under are free of charge) and includes access to Pumpkin Land, Halloween Funfair, Children’s Activity Play Area, Live Music & Food Village, Photo Opportunities, Pumpkin Express and free parking! Entry to premium attractions starts from £7 each including Trick or Treat Street, The Jungle Inflatable Experience, Spooky Cinema, Twisted Circus & The Lost World.
7. Severn Valley Railway Ghost Trains and Scream Trains
Severn Valley Railway has two spooky train experiences this year. One for under 18s (ghost train) and one for over 18s (scream train).
Are you brave enough to climb aboard the Ghost Train?
After boarding the train at Kidderminster Station, hold on securely as it departs and passes through eerie stations on its journey to Arley – a place rumoured to be inhabited by the living dead. However, it is important to be cautious, as the strange occurrences may not be limited to the exterior of the train.
Passengers are advised to expect jump scares. The lights on the train will also be off for periods of time. The experience may not be suitable for children who scare easily.
Departures available at 5:20pm, 6:10pm, 7:00pm, 7:50pm.
The scream train is for those over the age of 18. The train departs at 8:40pm. Prepare to be scared!

8. Halloween at Blenheim Palace
Explore a haunting nocturnal journey through a spider tunnel, where you will encounter mesmerizing fire performers and the mysterious headless horseman. Encounter eerie scarecrows, the distant howl of werewolves, and evade the sinister grinning pumpkins on your way to the crypt of the vampires. Be cautious, as you never know what menacing creatures await inside...
When? Friday 20th - Sunday 29th October 2023.

9. National Forest Adventure Farm Halloween Spooktacular
Explore all the fun of the National Forest Adventure Farm this October. The farm's Halloween event includes picking a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch, spooky shows, funfair rides, a soft play, and outdoor adventure play. The farm is definitely a full fun family day out.
When? 14th, 15th, 21st, 22nd, 28th October – 3rd November 2023.
Where? Postern Road, Tatenhill, Burton-on-Trent, DE13 9SJ.
How much? £15.99pp (under 2s go free).
10. Attwell Farm Park
A Halloween Spooktacular double bill - this October and November, Attwell Farm Park will be hosting two family fun Halloween events: Cauldrons and Cobwebs and The Haunted Harvest: Ghouls and Ghosts.
The farm's Cauldrons and Cobwebs event will be taking place on Saturday 7t, Sunday 8th, Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th October. This event involves pumpkin picking and carving (one pumpkin included per paying child, extra pumpkins available for purchase), meeting and greeting the Sanderson sisters, taking part in The Ghastly Ghost Hunt, and seeing a collection of spiders, creepy crawlies, and mini beasts.
Attwell Farm Park's Haunted Harvest event will run for 11 days: Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd October, then Saturday 28th October to Sunday 5th November. This event involves stepping into 'Ghostbusters' HQ in the Events Barn, where lookalike characters come to life. Janine Melnitz will immerse you into a game of Catch the Ghost, while Louis Tully and Dr. Jillian Holtzmann team up for slime-making. Why not take a stroll through 'A Haunted Walkthrough', if you dare! In addition to this, there will also be pumpkin picking and carving (one pumpkin included per paying child, extra pumpkins available for purchase), taking part in The Ghastly Ghost Hunt, and seeing a collection of spiders, creepy crawlies, and mini beasts. Don't forget to wear your best costumes!

11. Wonderland Telford Halloween Extravaganza
Wonderland Telford is offering a few Halloween events this year, including Evening Extravaganza, and Trick or Treat Days. Saturday 28th to 5th November- 11:00am to 4:00pm, younger children can enjoy Trick or Treat Days, where they can take part in Trick or Treating in Spooksville, enjoy the Wonderwitches disco, carve their own pumpkin and decorate biscuits in a Halloween theme with the not-too-wicked witch! All rides and bouncy castles will be in operation.
The Evening Extravaganza is taking place between Saturday 28th and 31st October 5:00pm to 9pm. This event involves scare actors, circus acts, Bed of Nails Show, fortune teller of death, Trick or Treating in Spooksville, Maze of the Walking Dead, light display and smoke, and a firework display (weather permitting). Don't forget to bring your torch!

12. Hatton Adventure World Halloween Spooktacular
This Halloween, Hatton Adventure World will be transformed into a spooky wonderland filled with fun Halloween-themed activities to enjoy.
When? 14th, 15th, 21st, 22nd then 28th to 31st October 2023.
Where? Dark Lane, Hatton, Warwick, CV35 8XA.
How much? Online prices are £21.95 per person (under 2's go free). This includes one free pumpkin per child.
13. Magic Alley Stratford upon Avon
Magic Alley is hosting 3 Halloween events this year!
The Witching Hour – A Spinetingling Murder Mystery (Suitable for children over 6)
The Witching Hour – A Blood-Curdling Murder Mystery (Daytime event recommended 10+ (parental discretion from 8. Evening events are suitable for 13+ only but not a scare attraction).
The Witching Hour After Dark – A Murderer is on the loose – will you be his next victim? (suitable for adults only – a scare attraction).

14. Manor Farm Park & Woodlands
From 21st to 31st October 2023, explore the spooky maize maze and experience Ghoul School in the woodlands. Meet the smaller animals in the Animal Chat Room and say hello to the bigger animals out in the paddocks. Follow The World of Dinosaur Roar! Discovery Trail in the woodlands. Experience falconry displays at 11.30am and 1pm, weather permitting*. Enjoy owl holding from 11am to midday and from 1.15pm to 3pm (an additional £1 per person). Manor Farm Park also has an indoor playbarn and two outdoor playgrounds - The Burrows Play Area and The Fort Adventure Playground.

How much? £13.95 for kids tickets (2-17 years), and £12.45 per adult. A child ticket includes a token for Ghoul School & Pumpkin Carving.

15. Legoland Discovery Centre: Brick or Treat Monster Party
In October, families can enjoy Halloween-themed activities at LEGOLAND® Discovery Centre Birmingham - all included in the price of admission. Join in on the 'scarevenger' hunt, watch the brand-new LEGO® 4D Halloween movie ‘The Great Monster Chase!’ – exclusive to LEGOLAND® in the 4D cinema, join in the fun and help the Master Model Builder and Playmakers to build a giant LEGO Vampire, build your own LEGO® pumpkin creations and add them to our Hall of Fame Pumpkin Patch, and meet Scarecrow - the spooky LEGO® mascot.

16. Apley Farm Shop
Apley Halloween Harvest
NEW FOR 2023!!
Head to the storytelling tent where a spellbinding, spooktacular story will be read to you and your children then follow a self-led trail to find the Apley Scarecrows. Children can pick a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch (free pumpkin per child ticket), and adults can collect their free hot drink. You can also enjoy the small children's funfair*!
When? 14th, 15th, 21st, 22nd, 28th October - 5th November 2023.
How much? £12.50 per child. £10.50 per adult.
Apley Halloween Fireworks Display
An evening of fireworks set to Halloween music, a family-friendly funfair with rides suitable for all. Refreshments will also be available. Doors will open at 4.30pm and with fireworks to start at 7.30pm.
This event sold out months in advance for 2022 so booking early is recommended. There will be no tickets available on the gate.
When? Saturday 28th October 2023.
How much? Car of 5 is £25.50. Car of up to 7 @ £35.50.
