Are you looking for a family-friendly afternoon that won't break the bank? Look no further than Churchfields Fun Farm, located in picturesque Worcestershire. This charming working dairy farm offers lovely activities to delight young visitors. From their brand-new adventure playground and zipline to ride-on pedal tractors, bouncy pillows, and giant sandpit - there's something for everyone! And with delicious award-winning ice cream, farm animals, a small fairy trail, and more on offer as well - it's easy to see why Churchfields Farm is quickly becoming very popular.
What is Churchfields Farm?
Churchfields is a fifth-generation family farm nestled in the picturesque Worcestershire countryside. Churchfields is well known for its fresh milk and award-winning ice cream produced on-site using milk from a neighbouring pedigree herd.
Churchfields Old Barn Cafe offers a mouth-watering menu of field-to-fork options. The cafe serves breakfast, coffee and cake or lunch all year round. There's indoor seating inside the barn as well as outdoor seating and a small climbing frame and slide. There's no charge to visit Churchfields Old Barn Cafe, but if you'd like to visit Churchfields Fun Farm (which is in the same vicinity), there is a charge for this (read on for specific prices). Churchfields Fun Farm is currently open on weekends and on Thursdays and Fridays during term time (at a discounted rate), but please check their website before you visit as this may be subject to change.
What's at Churchfields Farm?
New Adventure Playground and Zipline
One of the most exciting new attractions at Churchfields Farm is their Adventure Playground. The new wooden playground, designed and built by TouchWood Play, features impressive tractor and trailer-themed climbing frames with slides and ladders, and the area also features swings, tunnels, and other wooden equipment. A new zip wire has also been added too.
Ride-on Pedal Tractors, Pedal Go-Karts, Bouncy Pillows, and Giant Sandpit
At Churchfields Farm, there's no shortage of fun activities for families to enjoy. One exciting activity is the ride-on pedal tractors, perfect for little ones who want to feel like they're driving a real tractor. The pedal go-karts are also a big hit with visitors.
For those looking for something more bouncy, there are two giant pillows set up for jumping and bouncing around. These bouncy pillows offer endless entertainment while providing a soft landing spot. And let's not forget about playing in the giant sandpit, too!
Churchfields Fairy Trail
Churchfields Fun Farm also has a small fairy trail. The fairies need your help to locate their missing fairy dust. By following the clues along the fairy trail, you should be able to uncover the hidden location of the fairy dust.
The trail is in a woodland area filled with fairy houses hidden among the trees and bushes. This area also has a 'dummy tree' where your little one can take their dummies and give them to the 'dummy fairy' - I thought this was a really nice touch.
Just to note: The fairy trail path is uneven, with some brambles, stinging nettles, and twigs along the trail. This would be difficult to navigate with pushchairs and wheelchairs.
Animal Paddocks
In addition to the Fairy Trail, visitors can also enjoy a stroll around the animal paddocks where they can see farm animals such as cows, pigs, sheep, goats and donkeys. The animal paddocks are spacious which gives enough room for the animals to roam.
An additional note: Getting down to the animal paddocks would be tricky to navigate with a pushchair or wheelchair. It's steep in places with a mix of grass, dirt, and gravel. The walk around the paddocks is on grass which is on an incline (see image below).
Delicious Food and Award-Winning Ice Cream at Churchfields Farm
Churchfields Farm offers more than just fun activities; it also boasts delicious food and award-winning ice cream that will satisfy every craving. The breakfast and lunch menu is pretty limited but we did enjoy the burger, fries, and pizza we ordered. We probably wouldn’t purchase food if we visited in the future (other than the yummy ice cream), but it made a nice Father's Day treat.
You can either sit in the café and order your food and drink at the counter or sit outside on tables by the new play area or in the barn with the giant sandpit and pedal tractors. The outdoor seating has QR codes that you can scan to order, but this wasn't working when we visited.
The café in the Churchfields Fun Farm area has some farm-themed soft play equipment aimed at younger children.
But what really sets Churchfields Farm apart is its famous ice cream. Made with fresh milk from their own cows and natural ingredients, these creamy treats have won multiple awards for their delicious flavours such as vanilla bean, salted caramel, and toffee fudge.
Churchfields Farm asks that food consumed in all areas be purchased from Churchfields café. The designated picnic area is situated on the banks of the car park.
